Moms that live outside of the US?

What are the benefits of having a baby in the UK or Canada versus the US? I live in California and I keep hearing about these huge perks that UK and Canadian Moms get. I’ve considered moving out of the country not only for this reason but for many others. Can you describe what maternity leave, cost of having a child in a hospital is, health coverage, etc?? Thank you in advance, from an American Mommy.

Maternirt leave I believe is 6mos.

Cost of medical care = Zero. We have the NHS which provides healthcare free to all, which us brits complain about, but when you compare it to the USA – its a pretty amazing thing.

Same goes for health coverage – its all free.

Im SAHM, My partner works full time. We get the statutory child benefit (£75 per month). He gets working tax credits which are based on his income and hours of work (£309 per month) and I get child tax credit, which is based on my daughter age i think (£187 per month)

We do not qualify for govt benefits, but those include income support for those on small income, housing benefit for those on small income and rent to pay, jobseekers allowance for those unemployed and looking for work, disabilty allowance for those who are disabled or care for someone who is disabled, Maternity Allowance, for those who are pregnant and working, Incapacity benefit for those temporarily unable to work and for pregnant women who were not working at the time of application
