petite maternity pants
Maternity Clothes or Bella Band???
I’m 23 weeks and a petite person (5’1″ and currently almost 120 lbs) and find most of the maternity clothes I’ve found in stores to be too big. I also don’t like the idea of spending money on clothes I’ll wear for about 4 months, but it’s obvious my tummy is expanding and I need new clothes.
I recently heard about the Bella Band (an elastic waist band that fits over the waistline of your jeans and pants and results in a layered look underneath your shirts) and have considered investing in one or a few. But the price has me hesitant (almost $30 for one piece of stretchy cloth???).
Has anyone ever tried it and is it worth it? Especially if you’re as tiny as me. Or have you bought any brands similar to the Bella Band that was cheaper but worked just as well???

I did both. I’m like short like you-5’0″ and 105 pounds when I got pregnant and when trying on maternity clothes even the smalls were way too big. This is my second pregnancy though so I knew I would eventually fit into them. At 36 weeks along now I find the the maternity pants are almost too tight. I bought a product similar to the Bella Band probably 2 months ago and I love it. I went on Ebay and got 3 new ones for $30. Pretty good investment- I’m sure I’ll use them after the baby is born too while I’m losing the weight. Just beware- you’re going to gain weight all over- not just the belly so even if you don’t buy maternity pants your prepregnancy pants might be a little too tight even when unbuttoned as you get further along. I found out that I can’t stand snug pants when I’m pregnant. Plus, even maternity pants are low rise now, so when I bend over its nice having the extra coverage so I’m not showing my butt crack to everyone. lol
So, long story short- I bought two pairs of maternity pants, 3 bella band type products, and two pairs of jeans that were a size bigger than what I normally wore before the pregnancy. I find the bigger jeans with the “bella bands” are WAY more comfortable than the maternity pants.
