maternity supplemental health insurance
Single, older moms only please. Okay, I’m pregnant and single. I have great job but…?
I recently changes my status from full time to full time ssp (supplemental staffing). Basically I’m paying for my own health insurance now and the company does not pay short term disabilty. I’m waiting to hear back about another full-time position (more money in this one). Will I be eligible for maternity leave even though I am already pregnant? I have enough money to cover costs for a while plus I’m working overtime to save extra. Any advice from single moms out there? My boyfriend is supportive, but all his money is going into a family restaurant business.
Oh and FYI, this is a private compnay I work for, The new job will be with the state. I know in Canada and the U.K, maternity leave is different. In the U.S it’s kind of iffy…
company i mean..
CONGRATS ON YOUR BABY.
in the united states, if you are working with a govt job you can get maternity leave. but most places require you to be employeed a year before you qualify. You might be able to take FMLA (without pay) if you dont get ST disablity. Each state has their own regulations
in the US you do not have to disclose your pregnancy status to prospective employers until after you are hired.
Your BF can be emotionally supportive all he wants.. but he needs to be finacially supportive too. it is also his child and responsiblity.
Here are a bunch of maternity laws and information
