maternity leave letter employee
Employer not paying for insurance while on maternity leave?
I will soon be going out on maternity leave from work and i just got a letter from my manager stating they will not be paying for my health insurance while on leave. I can still have it i just need to pay 100%. I cannot afford that. It is a small Business (maybe 25 employees) and i have only been there a year, is this legal? if it is i guess i have to drop my insurance.
they are also making me give them exact dates as to when i will be leaving and returning. I dont know how i can do that considering i dont know when im having the baby. the paper states i will be fired is i do not return on the specified date.
i have to pay for my health ins. while im on maternity leave to! i think its ridiculous but what can you do! i have to pay what i pay now so i dont kno when you said you have to pay 100% if that is what you pay now or if they will make you pay what anybody off the street pays. the company prolly gets a discount on the ins. like mine will be $160 a month! but really i wouldnt drop your ins tho cuz your gonna have to go to the dr. after the baby is born and your gonna have to take your baby to the dr. so really think about it befor you decide to drop your ins. but yes i agree its completly ridiculous to make us pay for it esp. since we wont be gettn paid for the maternity leave!
