maternity formal tops

why do so many juniors’ clothes look like maternity clothes?
With the empire-waist, “princess top” or “peasant style” tops? I fear if I gain say 5 lbs when I wear the shirts like this in my closet I’ll look 2 mons pregnant! Or, that I’m trying to look pregnant for some odd reason. I want to buy some nice, party or dressy type top in the juniors department cause they fit me best, but I can’t find one that is NOT empire waist bc all of their dressy or formal tops are!
I know what you mean.. Same problem here.. They think its an “in thing”.. Just because everyone is or looks pregnant doesn’t mean I want too also..
